ECB8HC-230: Intelligent 8-Zone Wiring Centre — The Core of Your Heating & Cooling System
Modern buildings demand energy efficiency and year-round comfort. At the heart of these systems is often a heat pump — delivering warmth in winter and pleasant cooling in summer. It’s an ideal solution, but it introduces one essential challenge: how to control a system that must smoothly switch between two opposite operating modes? How do you make the same underfloor heating system that warms in January safely cool in July?
The answer is the ECB8HC-230 wired wiring centre. This is not a simple signal distributor. It is an intelligent 8-zone management hub, engineered from the ground up to be the “brain” of a modern 2-in-1 installation. It solves the installer’s biggest problems, protects expensive system components, and delivers effortless comfort to the user.
The ECB8HC-230 exists for one purpose: to give you full year-round comfort control from one device. No more separate controllers for heating and others for cooling. No more complex relay boards or cabinets full of automation. This single module centralises the management of 8 independent zones, working with 230V wired room thermostats. No matter the weather — frost or heat — the ECB8HC-230 knows what to do.
This is the key feature that sets this wiring centre apart. Traditional controllers have a single output for the heat source. But what if there are two modes or two devices?
The ECB8HC-230 solves this elegantly with two separate volt-free outputs:
HEAT Output: For activating the heating device (e.g., gas boiler, heat pump heating contact).
COOL Output: For activating the cooling device (e.g., chiller, heat pump cooling contact).
Thanks to this, the installer doesn’t need complicated external relays. Just connect the boiler to “HEAT” and the cooling unit to “COOL”. The wiring centre handles the rest.
How does the wiring centre know whether it should heat or cool?
Through the dedicated CO (Changeover) input.
Just connect a volt-free signal — usually provided directly by the heat pump, which decides when to switch to summer mode.
With the CO contact open, the ECB8HC-230 works in HEATING mode.
When the CO contacts close, the wiring centre automatically switches all 8 zones to COOLING mode.
The same thermostat signal now controls the cooling source instead of heating.
For the installer — dramatic simplification. For the user — full automation.
Underfloor cooling is a luxury — but it carries one serious risk: dew point condensation. If the floor surface drops below the dew point, moisture begins to condense — a potential disaster for wood floors, panels, and insulation.
The ECB8HC-230 includes a dew point sensor input. If the sensor detects any risk of condensation, it signals the wiring centre to instantly block cooling. This protects the floor and prevents moisture-related damage.
This feature is mandatory in any professional surface-cooling installation.
Heat pumps and boilers are valuable, but their biggest enemy is short cycling — rapid on/off switching caused by small zones heating up too quickly. It dramatically increases wear on compressors, pumps and control systems.
The ECB8HC-230 prevents this:
Fixed delay before activating the heat source and the pump
Adjustable overrun delay for HEAT/COOL outputs (0, 3, 5, or 15 minutes)
The wiring centre “collects” zone signals, waits 3 minutes before starting the main devices, and shuts them down either immediately or after the chosen overrun time.
The result?
Fewer cycles, longer uninterrupted operation, less wear, and a longer lifespan for the heat pump or boiler.
Modern homes often include large open spaces requiring multiple underfloor heating circuits. The ECB8HC-230 is ready for this:
Supports 8 thermostats (zones)
Up to 6 actuators per zone
Total capacity: 48 actuators.
This is more than enough for large homes and commercial installations.
Connecting to a 24V boiler?
Or to a heat pump that needs a dry-contact signal?
No problem.
The ECB8HC-230 uses volt-free NO/COM/NC (heating) and NO/COM (cooling) contacts.
It doesn’t send its own voltage — it works like an intelligent switch.
This ensures full compatibility with virtually any boiler, heat pump, or cooling unit.
The wiring centre is designed to make installation and service easier:
Pump Logic Output: One shared 230V pump output, active in heating and cooling.
LED Diagnostics: Every zone, every output, and every mode has its own LED.
Dual-colour LEDs immediately show the mode:
Red = Heating
Blue = Cooling
One glance, instant understanding.
Whether you install it in a distribution cabinet or directly in the boiler room, the ECB8HC-230 adapts. The enclosure supports:
DIN-rail mounting (35 mm)
Wall mounting
The ECB8HC-230 wired wiring centre is an essential component of any modern heating-and-cooling installation. It ensures efficiency, automation, and safety.
For installers: simple installation, clean logic, full compatibility, protection for client equipment.
For users: silent, intelligent comfort management all year round — with floor protection and extended equipment lifespan.
A smart investment for a safe, efficient, and truly intelligent home climate system.
